The Nolan Partners Sport Industry Breakfast
The Nolan Partners Sport Industry Breakfast Club has been an enormous success. The event takes place four times a year at the Bloomberg offices in the City and brings together some of the biggest names in the sector.
The first Nolan Partners Sport Industry Breakfast Club event of 2013 took place in March, with Barry Hearn, Global Sports Promoter, Founder of Matchroom Sport and Chairman of Leyton Orient.
This was followed in June by David Collier, Chief Executive of the ECB and Mike Gatting, MD Cricket Partnerships at the ECB and the next President of the MCC taking to the stage at Bloomberg to discuss the importance of the Ashes and the commercial value of a tour from India.
September’s event took place at BAFTA’s headquarters in Mayfair, where Ian Ayre, Managing Director of Liverpool FC and Mark Wilf, Owner and President of Minnesota Vikings took to the stage. Wilf discussed the growth of the NFL brand, particularly in the UK and Ayre talked about how the Merseyside club strives to serve its local roots while at the same time growing the global Liverpool FC brand.
2013’s final Nolan Partners Sport Industry Breakfast Club event brought together Brian Barwick, Chairman of the Rugby Football League and former CEO of The Football Association; David Grevemberg, CEO of Glasgow 2014; Debbie Jevans, CEO of England Rugby 2015 and former Director of Sport for London 2012; and Ed Warner, Chairman of UK Athletics. Between them the panel will be responsible for four major events taking place in the UK over the next four years and the discussion focused on the challenges and opportunities inherent in this golden decade of British sport.
2012 kicked off with Richard Scudamore, Chief Executive Officer of the Premier League and was followed in June by Mark Cavendish, 2011 Road World Champion and 2011 Sport Personality of the Year. September’s interviewee was Barbara Slater, BBC’s Director of Sport, who oversaw the BBC’s incredibly successful coverage of the 2012 Olympic Games and in November Ian Ritchie, Chief Executive Officer of the RFU took his place in the interviewee’s chair.
In 2011 the event featured Barney Francis, MD of Sky Sports; Adam Silver; Deputy Commissioner and CEO of the NBA; Paul Vaughan, CEO of England Rugby 2015 and Ivan Gazidis, CEO of Arsenal Football Club.
